Everyday each of us human beings have to go through so many processes that require our
understanding and dedication for it to be complete. One process that I though about while thinking
about what to write for this assignment is the Reading of the Sikh Holy Bible daily “divine order”. The
holy book also known as Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is a essential part for a Sikh’s lifestyle and when
Sikhs gather at the worship place each day for this divine order here is the process of how it is
delivered. At first one thing to know is that everyone present has their head covered and shoes off and
then the priest or the head will slowly with both of his hands open the Guru Granth Sahib ji to the
middle . ( To get a Random selection from the 1420 pages present in Guru Granth SahiB ji) Once the
Aang(page) is opened he/she must make sure that the top of the Aang is a full sentence if not he can
flip one Aang back and start from the bottom of that. When flipping through each Aang you use make
sure to not make it seem as if you are flipping through an ordinary book. Full respect is shown and you
must lift the Aang from the right hand corner and with both hands guide it to the next. Once the whole
“paragraph” is finished it means you have taken the daily order which Sikhs call the hukam-nama.
Once finished you must say the salutation which is Whageguru Ji ka Khalsa Whageguru ji ki Fateh. This
is a saying that each Sikh is to say whenever they meet another Sikh and its simply means Gods Pure
one, Voictory to God. After the priest/head has said this a sweet offering is given to everyone present
and this offfering is called parsaad. When thinking about this process I would say the big connection to
me is that these orders are usually things that we tend to ask/question about in everyday life and
sometimes you can be sitting there and out of nowhere your question is answered. I know this a very
brief summary of the whole process and I probably did a bad job but this process is a essential part of
all Sikhs day. I have added some pictures for some clarity.
